My Life My Home has begun construction on its ninth Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) home, expanding residential opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Southern Illinois.
Construction began in early May and is expected to be completed in fall 2026. The home will offer community-based living for three individuals. Design features include fully wheelchair-accessible living spaces, an open floor plan, accessible bathrooms, a lowered kitchen island, and a covered patio overlooking a beautiful lot filled with shade trees. An oversized garage will accommodate a wheelchair-accessible van, allowing team members to safely assist individuals into vehicles while protected from the weather.
Once completed, the home will offer a supportive environment where individuals can build independence, develop daily living skills, and remain active within the community. A team of Direct Support Professionals will provide individualized 24-hour support tailored to each resident’s unique goals and needs. The My Life My Home nursing team will also be available on an on-call basis to provide clinical support.
My Life My Home expects several current clients to move into the new home, creating additional openings throughout its CILA program for individuals currently seeking services. Families are actively involved throughout this transition process.
“For years, we recognized the need for another CILA home and originally planned to begin this project in 2019,” said Mary Lynam-Miller, Executive Director of My Life My Home. “Like many organizations, we experienced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, rising interest rates, and supply chain challenges. We’re excited that the timing is finally right to bring this vision to life and continue serving individuals in our community.”
“I am so excited about this home because it will support two individuals whose families are part of the community,” said Michael Brave, President and CEO of My Life My Home. “It has been so rewarding to work with family members and their loved ones to design the home around the needs and wants of the individuals that will be supported in the new home. That is who we are as an organization. That is the passion I feel when we support each person in living a meaningful and satisfying life.”
The organization selected New Baden for this project because of its long-standing connection to the community. Their administrative offices and two CILA homes are also in New Baden. My Life My Home and its sister organization, Clinton Manor Living Center, are proud to continue investing in a community known for its welcoming neighbors and strong local support. The home’s proximity to the organization’s administrative offices also ensures continued access to high-quality support services.
Construction is being completed by Brockmeier Construction of Okawville, Illinois. After the home passes final inspections, My Life My Home plans to host a community open house and ribbon-cutting celebration.
As one of New Baden’s larger employers, My Life My Home continues to recruit compassionate individuals interested in supporting people in living meaningful and satisfying lives.
This project reflects My Life My Home’s continued commitment to the growth of person-centered support across Southern Illinois.
